St. Andrew's After School Program

Beyond the Classroom

To assist parents after school, St. Andrew’s offers a comprehensive after-school program called Beyond the Classroom (BTC), which keeps Lower School (K-5) students active and engaged from dismissal until 5:30 pm on school days.

Some students prefer to use their last few hours on campus to get schoolwork done and work with tutors so they can free up evening time at home. Some would rather get moving with intramural sports or free play. Some choose to take private music lessons to hone their instrument. BTC offers options for every student, making after-school time easy for our parent community and productive for our students.

BTC Basic Care

This option includes full afternoon supervision, snack, study hall, and free play.
BTC Daily Schedule

Except on poor weather days, BTC will be based outside in the amphitheater and Bailey Lane playground area.

3:15-3:30: School dismissal; BTC check-in and snack
3:30-4:45: Enrichment classes or free play
4:45-5:15: Free play (playground or library)
5:15-5:30: Carpool loading at Bailey Lane.

You may pick up students at any time during BTC. If picking up prior to 5:15, please park and find a BTC staff member to check out your child. You may also text the BTC cell phone (512-422-9321) to have us bring your child to the car.
BTC Enrichment Classes

During traditional in person BTC, this option includes full afternoon supervision before and after selected activity, snack and supervised free play. All students enrolled in enrichment classes are also enrolled in BTC basic care for that day (BTC fee applied).
Cancellation Requests

All requests to cancel enrollment in a BTC class should be submitted by email to Sean Fitzsimons at sfitzsimons@sasaustin.org. Refunds will be granted 100% for requests received prior to the first class session. After two class sessions, you will be refunded 50% and after three classes, no refund will be given. No credits or refunds will be given for missed class days. Any class that St. Andrew’s cancels will be refunded 100%.
Private Music Instruction in Piano, Guitar, or Violin

Weekly lessons are taught M-F by a variety of instructors in 30-40 minute blocks. When registering, you may request your preferred lesson day. You will be contacted to confirm lesson availability. Cost: $50 per lesson

Registration, Dates, and Fees

BTC programs are offered in three trimesters. Registration for BTC Enrichment classes occurs three times during the year. The 2022-2023 BTC Trimester Dates for enrichment classes are as follows:

Fall Trimester: August 26 - November 15

Winter Trimester: November 18 - February 21

Spring Trimester: February 14 - May 16

Pre-registration for each trimester of BTC is required to ensure adequate resources are available to students on the first day. Fees for BTC vary based on how many sessions per week your student is enrolled each trimester (see below).

1 day per week - $235
2 days per week - $295
3 days per week - $355
4 days per week - $415
5 days per week - $475

Optional BTC enrichment classes require additional fees.

Daily drop-ins - Students may attend ("drop-in") BTC on days for which they are not registered; please notify by email both the student's homeroom teacher and BTC. A fee of $25 per drop-in day will be charged.
