Students Turn Out Strong for Book Fair, Boosting Library Funds

At the Rollins Library Book Fair this spring, Lower and Middle School students showed up in force.
Lower and Middle School students stocked up on their favorite novels, series and guides the first week of April at the annual SAS Book Fair. Supported by about 70% of K-8 students, the 2025 Book Fair was a huge success and raised over a thousand dollars more than the previous year. The Book Fair was hosted at the Rollins Library in partnership with local, independent book store, BookPeople, with 20% of all purchases going towards purchasing new library books.

“We want the book fair to be a celebration of reading and students did just that. Over 65% of purchases at the fair were books! Each year we want to increase that percentage,” said Lower and Middle School Librarian Caroline Turelier.

The most popular book sold at this year’s Book Fair came down to a tie between two very different reads—Game of Noctis and Guinness World Records 2025—with 20 copies of each purchased by students. The number one item sold at the 2025 Book Fair that was not a book was the Monkey Eraser Pencil Topper, proving that SAS students enjoy scribbling in style.

Volunteers Connect Students to the Joy of Books at the 2025 Book Fair

This year’s Book Fair was powered by a hard-working team of parent volunteers, who dedicated over 137 hours of their time, working in the Rollins Library to ensure that  the 2025 Book Fair went off without a hitch.

Additionally, this year’s Book Fair introduced a new, digital point of sale system, Fair Kit,  built from the ground up by SAS parent, Jack Humphrey. The custom Book Fair software not only tracked book purchases and transactions seamlessly, it also tracked and synced student spending limits across mySAS.

The new digital system helped students and parents track Book Fair purchases in real-time and also saved so much time for volunteers, said Turelier.
